Near Amsterdam, on the other side of the North Sea Canal, is the mysterious Hembrug site. Once the well-protected heart of the Stelling van Amsterdam (in the year 1880), where firearms, artillery and ammunition were produced for, among others, the Dutch army. Time has now transformed the site into a mix of beautifully restored buildings, desolate ruins and unspoilt nature. In and around no fewer than 50 monuments, the 'explosives forest', the bunkers and shooting ranges, you will find dozens of creative entrepreneurs, special catering facilities and surprising events.

Vlakbij Amsterdam, aan de andere kant van het Noordzeekanaal, ligt het mysterieuze Hembrugterrein. Ooit het streng beveiligde hart van de Stelling van Amsterdam (in het jaar 1880), waar vuurwapens, artillerie en munitie voor onder meer het Nederlandse leger werden geproduceerd. De tijd heeft het terrein inmiddels omgetoverd tot een mix van prachtig gerestaureerde gebouwen, desolate bouwvallen en ongerepte natuur. In en tussen de maar liefst 50 monumenten, het 'explosievenbos', de bunkers en schietbanen vind je tientallen creatieve ondernemers, bijzondere horeca en verrassende evenementen.
